They told me I might not be getting enough calories because I switch to a lower calorie shake. so I'm going to try that and see if it helps!

Are you taking meds for high blood pressure? I had to stop, and the dizzy spells went away.

My dizziness is related to blood pressure. Pre surgery I had very high readings, now things are much lower. I'm being weaned off the BP meds. (I'm 1 week post-op.)

If you don't already have one, get a blood pressure cuff. They are available that run off D batteries and last months no problem. When I feel dizzy, I check my BP and it is always low. 90/50 range. So then I know to up my Fluid intake. It's really strange, I was thirsty all the damn time before surgery, and now I can barely get 50 oz of Water a day.

I had high BP before surgery, so even if I got down to normal BP I felt "off". Low BP makes me nap all the damn time too.

  • Yes I was dizzy and my doc said it will pass, I also had mild headaches and I am a month post op and all that stopped. Just stay hydrated. You are not intaking carbs and this could be a carb withdrawal. (Possibility)

I was also dizzy for such a long time over a year come to find out my sleeping pill I was on was to much of a high dose for me so Dr lowered the mgs and it went away immediately

I have had many dizzy spells since surgery on 5/5/2015- attributed to low calories, no carbs and mild dehydration. It gets better for sure, and moving into soft foods helped tremendously.

I am about 5 months out and I get dizzy when I get up, squat down, bend over etc. I think it's low blood pressure that I'm definiately not used to, maybe low Iron, and needing more water....working on it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
