Am I weird? I told everyone what I did. Then had to tell strangers because of the diet. But, I've never heard anybody whispering. But if they do....I don't give a crap. This was like my last resort. And it came to the fact that I needed help. So, I got help. End of story. Almost everyone I know and care about think I've done a great thing for myself and for my health. I realize not everyone is that way. I just don't care what people think of me or how I have chosen to get heathier.

Me too. People who don't get it....oh well...Walk a few yards in my old body and then tell me what you think.

One of the coolest things I heard was that a lady's couple of friends were unsympathetic to her surgery, telling her she took the easy way, so she laid out a challenge, she dared them to spend a couple of hours with her while she went on errands, provided they wear a 30lb vest the whole time, after an hours or so one of her friends said she couldn't do it anymore, the other stuck it out but complained of foot pain and back hurting, she told them how bout 175lbs 24/7, cause that was what she lost so far, ignorance can be turned into empathy by trying on another person's shoes!!!!!!!

I don't advertise it, but I don't keep it a secret. The important people in my life know.

Only my significant other knows. Everyone else (my parents, best friend) thinks I'm just on a strict diet!

So what do we do when friends are noticing our tiny portions?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
