After the S#%!... I mean STALL...

Recommended Posts

My surgery was 5/11, so I'm a little over 3 weeks out.

Haven't dropped a pound in over a week. Lots of trouble with nausea. Supposed to be on purée, but can't tolerate. So I'm just sticking with (and basically picking at) Protein Shakes, Greek yogurt, and string cheese.

So my question is: When does the stall end? Once it does end how much weight did you lose?

Thank you!

Everyones journey is different. Dont measure yourself versus others, what some lose isnt what you wil lose , you might lose more, or less. but you will lose. thats the key!

Keep your chin up.

That first stall sucks, but when it breaks..it breaks.

This is the first of many stalls... Just keep doing what your doc/nut have put in place for you. They wont last forever... Some stalls last longer then others - i had one last over 2 months... but as stated above - the best advice, dont compare yourself to someone else... this is your own personal ride... you may wait in line a little longer then others, your ride my go faster then others... Just enjoy the whole thing, the ups, downs & stalls... when you get to your goal... all the stalls and down falls wont matter any more :) congrats on being sleeved!!!

It's just temporary. Could be a week. Could be a month. Hang in there!

One thing I would suggest is trying to change up your eating a little. You're doing well with your Protein, and I know you can't tolerate pureed, but maybe find something you can tolerate? Sometimes if I'm eating the same things over and over and change things up, it helps the weight loss along. If you haven't checked out her website yet, The World According to Eggface has great pureed/soft food ideas! Here's the link:

The Ricatta Bake is to die for! Almost like you're eating REAL food!

I stalled at week 3 as well. I went on a business trip this week and noticed by the end of the week I had to take my belt in another notch. I truly believe that just because the scale doesn't move, doesn't mean that I am not still losing fat. I almost don't even care what the scale says anymore.

I need to adopt your attitude! ???? Thanks for what you said... You're right. ????

Are you feeling better? Did your stall budge? Keep us posted.

Hello! Well... Today is the beginning of week 4, and I've moved from 277 to 275. It may just be two pounds, but it'd better than nothing, so I'm trying to keep that in mind. ????

Regarding the nausea issue, I'm still having trouble & just sent the NP a message to request an alternative medication (instead of zofran). Hopefully, something else will help!!!! Thank you for asking... It's so nice to have thoughtful and understanding people! ????

I was sleeved the same day (5/11) & I'm currently stalled too! My scales haven't moved in over a week! It's so defeating. Hopefully, when the stall ends the weight will fall off fast!

Yes ma'am! How have you been otherwise? Any issues with nausea? Eating or drinking? I hope you haven't, but I was just curious.

When I say the scales haven't budged, I mean I've literally been 233.8 for over a week now. I have only had nausea/dry heaving the first few days post-op. One day, I did drink some Water too quickly and felt a little nauseous, but that's it. I struggle to get Protein & Water goals. Idk if I've even come close to meeting them to date. I struggle more with the exhaustion than anything! I really hope to have more energy soon!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
