Just looking for insight, I find counting Protein kind of hard... I'm supposed to have 60g a day.

Breakfast: 1 egg with cheese. 1.5 turkey sausage links. (My protein count for this meal is ~20g)

Protein shake 8oz: 23g+8g from the milk.

Lunch: 2 slices Virginia ham, 1 slice honey turkey, 1 slice cheese. (Rolled-up, with Dijon mustard- no bread).

(?? Not sure how much protein).

Dinner: hamburger slider (1.7 oz- meat only) with 3Tbs baked Beans. (Again, hard to count the protein... The beans have 6g in a 1/2 cup). The meat I'm clueless on...

I'm 5 weeks post op rny. Just curious isd this seems to meet the target I have, or if I need to re work things. (I get too hung up when things are not an exact match on my fitness pal, so I avoid tracking on it.)

Why aren't you sure how much Protein is in the ham, turkey and cheese? If it's packaged food it should be on the package. If you buy it from the deli then you can weigh it and look up the protein content. If you don't have a good scale it would be a great investment. I would also recommend using something like MyFitnessPal to keep track of your daily protein count and look up protein content for different foods.

I second getting a decent food scale - it's a huge help :)

I use genpro unflavored Protein powder - it has 30g Protein in a tiny scoop, I add it to my Water bottle (24oz) with a crystal lite packet and drink two of those per day. It doesn't dissolve very well, but as long as you give a few good shakes before taking a sip it disperses through the bottle and you can't even taste it. My NUT likes me to get 60-75g protein per day and there's no way to get all of that from food alone.

Best of luck - your food choices sound perfect!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
