They do, I'm just scared if I don't weigh myself daily I'll get off track! Sounds like weekly will be the better option for now at least. After surgery will be a different story!

What would you do differently based on the number on the scale to keep you "on track"?

Get in all your Protein and Water? Minimize carbs? Exercise?

If you are doing what you are supposed to do then the daily number on the scale shouldn't influence what you do every day. You will see trends better if you weigh once a week or less often. Then, you can adjust your daily goals.

I weigh daily, every morning after my shower. I use the app Happy scale which has a great graphic pic for me to see my downward trend. It also sets goal and shows your wt loss in 7 days/ a month/3 mon/ total...right there on the main page.

You can choose to track by actual or average trend (for those that get discouraged with any gain)

Weighing daily is a motivation tool for me....either a "yayy I'm on track" or "gotta watch things better".

I will NOT weigh myself again until I get feeling better emotionally. This past few days have been draining for me. Plus I should find out this week if my Surgeon will do surgery on me (chronic health problems). I have been hanging on by a thread and fighting the urge to eat what I shouldn't. I am afraid if I find that my scale isn't doing what it to, I will fall off the wagon and there goes my hope of better health.

So I will simply avoid the scale till I am able to handle whatever it says.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
