So for the first time ever....as in 32 years that I've known my husband....as of this morning....I weigh less than he does. He has been a great support to me on my way up the scale (unconditional love and acceptance) and now on my way down the scale. We've known this was going to happen for about a week now...he is heavier now than he likes to maintain and we both track our weight on the mirror in the bathroom.

So now, the worrier in me wonders how he will respond in his own Quest to be healthy. He has been struggling to refind his groove lately... Anyone go through this and how did you support your spouse?

My hubby and I are in a similar territory weight-wise, etc. We both encourage the other, but it's harder for him to consistently walk on the treadmill, track his food intake, and just not get frustrated with the slowness of any weight loss. He's a insulin dependent diabetic so he has always counted his carbs at meals and we've been weighing and measuring our food for years. Right now he's at the point he just wants to give up and quit because weightloss just isn't happening for him. He's very discouraged and frustrated.

Amazing! I don't think I will get there with my husband. He put on a couple of pounds over our vacation a few weeks ago, but I still think that only brought him up to 164. Right now, my nutritionist's goal weight for me is 165 and my "pie in the sky" goal is 155, which would put me JUST inside the "normal" BMI range. I suspect my husband will be back under 160 by the time I even hit 165.

I am very curious… why don't' you think you can get down to 155 or lower? Seems like you have been doing great and are still less than a year out of surgery? I have same stats as you btw and having surgery in a few weeks.

@@4me4them - I have been very blessed with a supportive husband who has started eating better and sharing his more nutritional meals when we go out. I still out weigh him but I am hoping by late July to tip the scales in my favor. he is running around 228ish and would like to get below 200.

I think the approach for us is that it is something we do - for each other and for ourselves - so we can enjoy our lives healthier and longer!

I remember the day I got lower than my husband. I was thrilled! Mine has also been very supportive of me but hasn't changed his eating habits. I don't push. He will when he is ready. I now way about 70 lbs less than my husband and that is just shocking to me!

The least I've ever weighed in my adult life was 165. That was when I was 22 or 23 and had dieted and exercised to lose about 40 pounds. And that was before I was on birth control.

I probably *could* get below 155 if I worked VERY hard, but I honestly have no desire to. I think I would look too skinny. I honestly am very happy with the way I look right now. Losing more than 20 more pounds I would definitely look too thin, in my opinion. I work out a LOT and do a lot of strength training, so I think I'd also likely have to lose some muscle in order to get below 155.

Makes sense. BUT I went from 257 to 145 with the lap band and I hadn't been under 200 in 15-20 yrs. 165 is amazing though and I would be fully satisfied with that at my age!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
