6 Months out 86lbs down.. as of yesterday feels like my restriction is gone!

Somebody help... I was sleeved on 12/26/15 post surgical weight was 337.. 6 months later I am 251. 86 lbs is alot, i do not want to jeopardize that. I noticed yesterday I am able to eat.. and it seems like a whole lot more than what I've had in the last 6 months. I'm starting to get scared. The pain and the hiccups was my signal that I had too much. what can I do.. and can someone suggest some great high Protein lunch and dinner recipes.. I'm running out of things to try and started craving junk.

I went through the same thing - twice. Once around the 6 month mark, and again at 1 year, after that, the amounts I could eat stayed the same - around 1 to 1 1/2 cups of food. I think at 6 months, Frankensleeve had relearned how to digest the "tough" foods and the healing from surgery had completed. That's my best guess.

I don't have much in the way of foods to try. I stick with a combination of crock pot pork loin and black beans/lentils most of the time. I never want to go back to the old cravings, so I keep my diet pretty boring.

You can't just depend on your restriction to stop eating. Depending on what the food is, I can eat over a cup at going on 10 months out. That's why I just measure the foods (like a half cup) I know I can eat more of and stop when it's gone.

Are you eating protien first? I find if I eat dense protien FIRST, I'm too full most of the time for much more. It's easy to forget that and dig in to your veggies or even carbs on your plate instead. When I do that, I find that I am hungry again much sooner.

Junk begets junk. If you are letting too many carbs and sugars back into your diet, try to get back to basics and do protien and veggies and NO CARBS AND SUGAR until the cravings subside. That's what works for me.

I eat pretty much the same thing every day. I found what works for me and I stick with it. I don't care if it's "boring" -- food isn't entertainment. I stick with lean, dense Protein and green veggies for meals, and Jerky, fruit, and small amounts of nuts for Snacks. Here's my typical menu:

breakfast: 2 oz of roast beef + 1 oz baby spinach leaves

lunch: 2.5 oz grilled chicken breast + 1.5 oz green veggies such as asparagus or green Beans

dinner: scrambled eggs (1 egg + 1 egg white) with cheese, 2 oz green veggie such as broccoli or brussels sprouts

Find what works for you, but focus on lean protein and green veggies. Measure/weigh what you are going to eat and stick with that. Avoid high carb or high sugar foods. Good luck!

Most of my meals and Snacks are the same each day with the exception of lunch and dinner. For lunch I usually have leftovers from a previous dinner. My husband is the cook in our house, so for dinners I always just have whatever meat he's having. He makes meatloaf, shrimp, various sausages, Indian chicken dishes.... He makes sides for himself or rice or Pasta, but I never eat any of those. I just eat 3-4 oz. of meat w/ sauce.

For the days when I don't have leftovers available for lunch, I buy buffalo chicken pizza topping from my local grocery store, heat that up, and melt a little mozzarella on top of it to tone down the spice. If I'm in a big hurry, I just have a Protein bar. And I recently discovered Hormel Sandwich Makers (my grocery store just started carrying them):

They are microwavable sandwich fillers without the bread. I can eat about half of one at a time and save the other half as leftovers. Some of them are high in fat, but the pork and chicken in barbecue sauce aren't bad nutritionally.

I have days where I feel like my stomach is a bottomless pit. And the next day, I take one bite and feel stuffed. It varies day to day and depending on what I eat. I can eat a lot more potato chips than I can chicken breast. So I stay away from potato chips.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
