I am 2 1/2 weeks out & I am cold all the time. I wear a jacket at home & socks all the time. I have always worn shirts & shorts this time of year but find a need a jacket even when outdoors at 75*. Also is avacado allowed?

OMG, this is happening to me too! I'm a month out from RNY, and I'm cold all the time. I'd set our AC at 80 if my wife and kids wouldn't revolt.

Even on the treadmill, it takes a little bit to even work up a sweat. I guess this is normal?

Not sure about avocado - Sorry

I'm a year post of & have had this issue since the beginning. I have seen several questions concerning this issue & have seen a lot of comments that the reason for this cold feeling is the lower amount of carbs you are consuming. I think this is true because I've noticed on days where I have consumed more carbs (bad on me) I'm not as cold.

I'm only slightly colder than I used to be and I am 1 month, 5 days post-op. I started eating avocado during my pureed/soft food stage, as I got permission from my surgeon. I LOVE avocados. I use a food scale so I make sure I do 1.5oz of avocado, sprinkle some cumin, Frank's Red Hot, and some herb hummus is the rest of the .5 allowed ounces.

I love winter and usually happily get around in short sleeve shirts on 8°C/46°F winter mornings, but today it was 16°C/61°F and I was absolutely freezing.

I guess this is better than sweating like a pig in summer, though...

I have been eating avocadoes since I was on soft food about two weeks ago. I LOVE them! I sprinkle chilli pepper on it and I am going to try it with tuna in place of the mayo prob for lunch today.

I have noticed I seem to be a little colder than norm. I guess its the 25lb sweater that I threw away!

ALWAYS cold!

Good thing I live in the desert...........And I never go anywhere that I do not take a sweater.

At home on the couch watching TV - either have socks and a sweater on or wrapped up in a blanket.

But then would rather trade the 80+ pounds I have taken off for the sweater!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
