Rochellevsg 38 Posted June 1, 2015 I'm pre op and just wondering how long some of you were off of work. I know its going to vary, but I read the average recovery time is 2 weeks. 2 weeks is about the longest I can take off work so I'm hoping that's all I need. My job is pretty sedentary so I should be fine.
1SlimmerMe 122 Posted June 2, 2015 2 weeks should be enough. I took 2 weeks, I have a sedentary job as well. I was fine and had no problems with going back after two weeks.
rp1980 116 Posted June 2, 2015 I went back to work six days post op. I was fine. I have a desk job for the most part and I found going back to work put me on a schedule so that I was able to get all my fluids in. That was hard when I was at home and sleeping a lot! liannatx 897 Posted June 2, 2015 I went back after a week. I was lucky and had an easy recovery. Like @@rp1980 said, I think it was easier to get into a routine. I also felt better each day just from moving around and getting out of the house.
mallen1895 108 Posted June 2, 2015 I took two weeks and was ready to go back
IndieDivaIN 39 Posted June 2, 2015 I took 4 weeks off. Had a lot of fatigue and mental fogginess due to decreased calories. Was not sharp at all and would have been a problem at work.
Rochellevsg 38 Posted June 2, 2015 Thanks for the feedback. I'm relieved to hear how quickly you guys got back to work.
Squizzo 15 Posted June 2, 2015 I went a week. All was well.
eyhornmom 36 Posted June 2, 2015 I took 1 1/2 weeks. I'm a middle school teacher, so I made sure that we were in the middle of reading a book together, so I could sit most of the day. I found that I wasn't uncomfortable at all, but I got tired very easy. I took a nap when I came home from work every day.
mreed75 4 Posted June 2, 2015 I took off 3 but also had my gall bladder. After two weeks I felt well enough to go to work. But for me two weeks was the turning point.
Rochellevsg 38 Posted June 3, 2015 This is good! I seen a guy on YouTube who said he was off for 7 weeks. I got nervous for a minute, but not so much anymore.
moveandgroove 67 Posted June 3, 2015 I had the ability to be off longer so I took 6 weeks off. Definately could have gone back around the two week mark but was having difficulty at work before I left so I took the extra time to really heal but also to get on a schedule - start walking - a spend some time with my young girl. gleno97 3 Posted June 3, 2015 I'm off for 6 weeks also. No lifting over 10lbs. Gotta heal properly before getting back to work. Also allows time to learn what your body can tolerate when introducing different foods into your day to day routine.
