Weight loss after surgery

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery May 4, 2015 and I weighed 220lbs. On May 20,2015 My first follow up I weighed in at 206. I have only lost 4lbs since, should I be worried? What's the normal average loss?

Everyone is different. I've been in a stall for almost 2 months. I have had several stalls over this past year but they have only lasted 1 week. I'm going to go back to drinking Protein shakes 1 day a week & keeping a better record of what I eat. I need to drink more liquid. I hate Water so that's been a big issue & probably has something to do with my stalls. I refuse to give up!!

@@kitty66 today is my follow-up and I will be 1 day short of 4 weeks post (I was sleeved 5/6/15). I have been at a stall for 5 days. It happens, I have lost weight too many times to NOT know this but still.....I am hoping doctor will be happy with my progress. I am working hard for the Water in-take :/

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
