@@Arianna0228 thats awesome, good luck to you. I don't have to check in until 11:30, which means surgery probably won't be until around 1:30.

Thank you, now that I'm on my 2 week pre op diet, it is getting a lot realer. I know going through the process, I knew that this was going to be the result, but its surreal that its actually almost here. I'm excited for this life change for both of us.

I know what you mean. My Dr. has me on the liquid diet for a total of 3 weeks. :-( I am stating on week 2, although, I did cheat some on week 1, only because, I was having a hard and stressful day on Friday, due to having to put my kitty to sleep. So I thought I deserved something other than liquids and the small salad that I can have each day. I did my pre-op last Wednesday, that is what really made it surreal for me. I cant believe that the time is ticking down, 14 days to go!! I can do this!!!! So can you!!! If you are interested I have a blog on wordpress, fatrolldiaries.wordpress.com, feel free to check it out. When did you start the process for the surgery?

I had been talking with my primary about it for several years, but i finally decided to move forward and looked at what insurance covered and everything last october. I then called my chosen surgeon at the begning of february, had my first visit feb 27th.

@@Arianna0228 That's cool. I started several years ago as well, but when I contacted my insurance at the time, they said they did not cover it so I did not proceed. Then I got a letter saying they would cover it this year due to a pilot program my company was offering, and I contacted them at the begging of February and had my first consult on March 30th. And with all the pre req stuff, it pushed me out all the way until now, I was hoping to have it at the end of May, but that didn't happen. Oh well. at least I am able to get it done.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
