usedtobeaskater 58 Posted June 1, 2015 Hi, I am just in the beginning of the process to have the sleeve surgery. I have met with Nurse Practitioner, Dietitian, tomorrow I go to PT to meet with them, back to nurse on Thursday. Lost 5 pounds need to lose 20 before I meet the doctor and have surgery. Have not met with Psychologist yet or started his classes (have to attend five) Looking to see if anyone can offer advice or words of wisdom to help get ready for all of this. NEED to get surgery - sick of how I feel, how I look, knee pains and I want to be more active. Any advice you can give I am ready for it.
jane13 2,256 Posted June 1, 2015 do what the doctors tell you and research as much as much as possible and if you need to ask a question - come here. you will get a multiple of answers for simple things like how can I get more Water intake during the day or which is the easier to use blender for just smoothies. I have been coming here for a little over 6 months and had surgery on May 6th. this is a great welcoming group here~
mclorrie 219 Posted June 1, 2015 Welcome @usedtobeaskater! You've come to the right place for support! I agree with what Jane13 said. Water is key for losing weight. If you're a coffee or soda drinker like I was - now is the time to start weaning yourself off. They'll want you to be off caffeine before surgery. Another thing I'd like to add is do as much research as possible! If you have a question, ask it. There are so many people on this site that have been so helpful in answering questions! A good site to diary what you eat is MyFitnessPal.com - it's helped me to stay on track and you can print your food diary for your NUT appointments. Good luck with your journey, it will go fast!!
