I don't regret having this done one second. But that's me. I tried everything and was so desperate to get this weight off, I would have been happy with 20 pounds less.

I wish you luck.

the best is yet to be.

It is natural to have fear of the unknown.

Sweet it's natural to be afraid - but remember you are young you have that on your side. Just think about how much better you are going to feel when that weight starts coming off. You are doing your body a favor too by getting the weight off while you are young instead of like me... Think postitive !!!! Good Thoughts !!!

I haven't had surgery yet - 7/17 but right now i am not scared of the surgery part at all.. Now on 7/16 that might be a whole different situtation ::rolleyes..

Congrats on your surgery date. We all go through lots of emotions before the surgery, you wouldn't be normal if you didn't. Keep yourself busy, go for walks, read all the threads on here, talk to a friend. Make sure you buy your supplies for your liquid diet after the surgery. Good Luck!

I have not yet experienced Lap Band surgery, but hope to in the next few months. I am very excited, but want to know all aspects of the surgery itself and it's after effects. I realize each person experiences differences but please share with me what it has done for you.:P

I am going through the same thoughts. I have just begun the process and am probably looking at September before I can have the surgery. I think it is normal. I just keep telling myself how great it will be when I start losing and how much better I will feel. Good luck!

My surgery is set for Aug. 6, and I feel fine about it now, but like someone said Aug. 5 will be a whole different story. Ask me again closer to the 6th and I am sure I will have another answer. It is human nature to apprehensive about things such as surgery.

I am just begining this journey. I will be attending a seminar on June 26th. I am not sure if this is the surgeon that I'll be using. I am going to another seminar on July 26th. The first seminar, the surgeon is a M.D.

The second seminar the surgeon is a M.D., F.A.C.S. I am not sure how important this is but I am researching this. The M.D. surgeon has only being doing surgery since 2004. He is rather young but I'll wait and see.

If you need help in making your mind up this is the best website.

Come online and chat with the group. They tell it like it is, the good, not so good and anything else you want to know. Everyone on this site is so nice. This is the best support system if you are just starting your journey or well into it. I am online most times between 9:00-10:00 most nights through the week because my work schedule.

I wish you much success.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A. Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
