I recommend Premier Protein for you. Each 11oz container has 30g of Protein and very low in carbs and about 3g of fat only. I take 2 daily to meet my requirements. All flavors are really good and do not taste chalky at all..

Your kidneys can be negatively effected by consuming too much Protein in one shot. Protein is essential but when I did my research I believe 35g max was the number.

Link? IIRC that's the amount your body can absorb per hour. This works just fine for my eating habits

That said this is also why it's important to have bloodwork gone every few months. Any spike in your levels can be caught & dealt with before they reach dangers levels.

A basic Google search can show you that too much Protein in your blood can cause kidney damage. That when you consume more than can be digested your body tries to rid itself of it and it goes to the kidneys.

Protein is ABSOLUTELY awesome for your health. Your body needs it, but once you reach a certain point of intake, it can have negative effects. Much like how our body needs Water. If you don't drink enough water, you die. If you drink too much water, you die.

At the end of the day, my NUT is who I listen too. Where others get there info or guidance is their deal.

Love, peace, and a tiny bit of chicken grease.

Make greek yogurt your new friend. I'm 4 months out and still have 1 shake a day and most days I have at least 1/2 cup of nonfat greek yogurt - either in a smoothie with Protein Powder, or just with a little bit of preserves added. Especially right at first getting all your Protein in is difficult, but it's also essential - your body needs it to heal.

Dannon Oikos has a new Greek yogurt line with 15 grams of protein per serving.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
