My first weight goal is to be in "onederland" I have 28 more pounds to go!

I have always rewarded myself with food (going to certain restaurants or getting my fav dessert from a local bakery) now I can't do that so I am think of new rewards.

Just wanted to hear from my Sleeve Family on what they have gotten/done as a reward for meeting goals!

New clothes, new haircut, or a lot of times no real reward but instead catching a glimpse of myself in the window while walking into a store and wondering whose legs those are attached to my body because my legs have never looked that small.

A new pair of high heels because I could sure as heck never balance on them before.

Sometimes the reward comes on it's own without me having to think about it. Like when you see someone you haven't seen in a while and your appearance is so different that they can think of nothing to say that will cover up the look of surprise on their face. Or when you see someone who gave you condescending looks and remarks when they learned you were going to have WLS, and now, oddly enough, they cannot think of anything to say because you look so much better than them. :o

I started my journey at 235 pounds. When I got to Onederland, I made this list for myself.

Weight Loss Rewards

185 - “Yes” trip to Trader Joe’s for specialty items

180 – Kitchen gadget, probably a reversible stovetop grill / griddle

175 – Garden gloves and hat (use gloves for work-out also?)

170 – More CD’s for outside exercise / or MP 3 player w/sleeve band

165 – Backyard fitness trail equipment

160 = Plants for the yard = lilacs or honeysuckle

155 – ½ hour massage at Massage Envy

150 – Genealogy trip somewhere

145 – Style consultation

140 – Another Professional bra fitting

135 – Family portraits

Alternate suggestions: replace Claddaugh ring, nice jewelry item (maybe an ankle bracelet), go to arts and crafts fair (or Scottish festival), go to that local church flea market, office supplies or new deluxe office chair)

I am currently 192 pounds. I plan on getting a tatto when I get to 165 I plan to get a small horsehead on the side of my thigh just above the knee on the outside. Something that will show when I wear shorts but not show when I where skirts/dresses at work.

When I get to goal weight I am buying new tall riding boots for showing my horse. I may also get fancy riding chaps.

I don't really have any other interim goals and rewards.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
