So looking forward to not hurting from osteoarthritis and being able to wear nicer clothes and get out and enjoy my life with my husband, kids and grandkids. !! The time goes by fast doesn't it? Congrats and Good luck!!! My best advice is walk as soon as possible after you're in your hospital room. I had bad gas pains that crept up into my right shoulder and it was horrible, only thing that helped was walking. I walked SO much. wishing you all the best! and hopefully no gas pains :)

Good luck and I second the walking recommendation. Walk and drink, baby steps on both, but lots of them

Day 2 post op and the gas pains are killing me! I have been walking loops around my unit and have started to pass gas as of about midnight last night, but clearly there is a lot more to get rid of. Even the oxycodone the nurses give are not making a dent. I am aupposed to go home today and now I'm worried that if i am still in this much pain they wont let me.

Gas is still painful, but I am home and not in the hospital, so at least that's good. I am hopeful that it will be finished by the weekend.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
