My period has gone crazy!

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 5/13/15 and my period was the week before which was normal. My surgery weight was 205. I lost 15 pounds in the 1st 2 weeks and only about a pound or so this 3rd week. But i have been bleeding off and on since surgery and now im at a full fledged bleed like a normal period only it's a week early. Has anyone else had this issue after being sleeved?

YES! If I've had 2 weeks since surgery that I haven't been bleeding or spotting, it's a lot. I've heard it's from the estrogen releasing from fat, but need to get back to the doc about it. Had to go on Iron, and resisting a D&C.

I hope yours straightens itself out ASAP!

Mine started early...I had surgery Monday morning, my period started that Thursday. Much lighter than normal. Lasted three days, which is a little less than normal. Haven't had one since (im three weeks post op now). I'm wondering if the lack of nutrition will effect it now? Usually fertility is first to go when your body is going through trauma.

Make sure you all don't become anemic! Have your levels checked by a doctor!

Mine is crazy. I work in GYN and it's normal because of the rapid weight loss. I was sleeved 4/8

Glad my husband had a vasectomy of I would be freaking out lol

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
