Research Rx prices Sams club lied to me.

Recommended Posts

I'm joining costco for Premier Protein and giving up Sams.

Reason: I only take 1 Rx and it's for my thyroid so I don't have Rx ins. No plan D. Been $10 for 90 day supply at Sams for years. My last bottle was $30.32. I asked 2 different people in the pharmacy at 2 different times why the price increase. They both said "Obama Care". I called Walmart for a price check on the script and it's $10 for 90. I mentioned what they said at Sams. I could tell the guy was shocked. He said it has nothing to do w/Obama Care that Sams switched suppliers that caused the price increase. That's $80 a yr increase out of my pocket but the main thing is they lied to me. It had to be management having people in pharmacy tell customers that. I would of stayed a member of Sams but got my Rx at Walmart or costco had they just told me the truth. They've lost a long time customer.

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their life.

Current untruths regarding medications:

If the price went up, it's Obamacare.

If they won't give you the opioid your doctor prescribed, it's "the DEA cracking down".

If they won't give you the amount of pills your doctor prescribed, it's "the DEA".

If they don't have it in stock, it's "doctors are overprescribing".

All are very true. I'm lucky that I only need 1 Rx. I can go to Algodones MX for meds but luckily I don't need any.

Have to take care of ourselves because no one else will if we don't.

To be fair, it is possible that the people who blamed Obamacare didn't realize that the supplier had changed which led to the price increase. I have found that absolutely every single prescription I get is higher now that Obamacare is in effect. Sure, my birth control is free, but I had a $400 prescription for antibiotics, a $90 prescription for a single pill for nausea, my betablocker is $30 a month only because Walgreens has some kind of card they scan, otherwise it would be $80, and a debriding cream was $200. Before Obamacare nothing ever cost what it does now, so on my own little rant I personally really resent having to pay what I pay in taxes so that some people get free and low cost health care while my own very expensive private plan no longer covers anything compared to what it used to and so that my own expenses have gone through the roof.

Ok rant over...glad you found a cheaper place to get your drugs!

I agree Rx costs are out of control here. One reason is the pharmaceutical co's can and do charge what they want as well as drug stores is because they can. In other countries there is a cap on it. I went to MX (185 mi from me) for anti-b's and other meds. Tens of Thousands of people go there all the time because no Rx needed and they are so much cheaper. They are quality meds and are sealed from the manufacturer. The dental care there is `1/3 the cost of the US and just as good. It's ridicules we go to MX for meds and dental care because we can't afford cost in US and they come here and get it free. Go figure.

I think everyone should have ins but should have to pay for it. Our ER's are jammed w/people too cheap to go to a community clinic. I don't like paying taxes for others free care. I have no answer to the problem. Maybe someday someone will.

Congrag on your great weight loss. Way to go!!!!

I bought a case of the Premiere chocolate Protein drink about a month at costco before my sleeve and drank a few during my pre-op diet with no problem. Since my sleeve eleven days ago, I've tried it twice and both times it resulted in almost immediate diarrhea which bums me out. The unjury powder and Body Fortress powder I use have given me no problem. I won't give up, but it'll be a while before I try it again. It was so convenient to have on hand.

Your just out of surgery. Got to give your body at least a few months if not longer to adjust. You'll be able to eat more things w/o a problem.

I don't have a problem eating anything which is not good since I gained 5 lbs and now realize that I have to watch what I eat. I have a shake for a filler. Getting the book by barbaric surgeon Matthew Weiner "A Pound of Cure". He has great videos on YouTube also. I can't let this get out of hand. Enough of my whine.

Good luck your doing great.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
