Had my lab band surgery on May 29, 2015. I have been nauseated every day since surgery. The nausea medication they gave me does not seem to help. I have to force myself to drink my shakes. I am just worried my body is not getting the nutrition it needs. Maybe that is why I am so sick to my stomach.

Any suggestions on what could help this?

When you first get out of surgery Protein shakes destroy your gut. That is most likely why your nauseated. Stick to Clear liquids for a while that help settle your tummy and work up to some other foods. I went to my surgeons office one week post op basically crying on his shoulder because i was sick all the time. He gave me a huge hug and was like honey you don't need to be drinking all those shakes so soon. Let your gut rest and you'll feel better.

Good luck to you,

Brittany

For the first and second day after surgery I was on a clear liquid diet. Starting on day three it was full liquids. However, I was sick for about the first 4 days and even vomited the sips of Water i was drinking. I think it may have been a mixtyre of the anesthesia, pain medicine, and the air they used during surgery. Good luck with everything.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
