I finally scheduled my appointment. I will be sleeved on July 2 with Dr. Zavalza. Are there any other Dr. Zavalza patients on here? If so how was your experience?

Will do ! I did the same thing, going back and forth between different doctors before narrowing it down to Dr. Zavalza. For me, it's the team of both Dr. Zavalza and Dr. Luna that helped me make my decision :)

Thank you all for responding. I started my pre-op diet and I'm so happy with my choice. Dr. Zavalza has been great so far, anytime I have a question I just email him and he gets back right back to me. I know I'll be in good hands. ????

Oh wow it looks like we'll be there around the same time. Are you going through bariatricpal? I can't believe I'm only a week away from getting sleeved. Dr. Zavalza has been wonderful, anytime I have a question or concern he immediately gets back to me. I'm confident we'll be in good hands. How's you pre-op diet going?

I'm going through Go Light Bariatrics and staying in the hospital hotel after discharged. It's going pretty well, it was hard at first but I feel like I'm rarely hungry now. Hopefully my body will adjust just as well to the post op diet. How is yours going?

It was really hard at first. It's gotten a bit easier. The hardest part is when I'm cooking for my family or family outings. At least we have just 1 more week to go. Good luck to you. Keep me updated.

Thank you very much. Dr. Zavalza did mention that to me but I'm not on FB. I was thinking of making one just for that. I know I will have a lot of questions after surgery. How do I find that group?

Thank you. I'm going to go ahead and create an account. Did you already have surgery with Dr Z?

I'm trying to find this support group as I'm debating Dr. Zavalza because of the great reviews of his nutrition Dr. But I can't find the group... Can someone provide a link?

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
