Questions for everyone :) how did you measure your portions after the liquid stage? Actual food is different with measurements from liquid or so I've been told. I've heard that an ounce of chicken breast is about the size of a chicken nugget, is this accurate? Also has anyone found any special scales or measuring cups that work well? I'm looking for some tools to buy lol.

Because my eating is still so erratic, weighing has not been necessary. I know if I eat a half cup of food, I've eating all I can. Anymore it's not going to pretty. I focus more on Protein then veggies and fruit. Chewing has been my main focus. Anything larger than a small bite is more than i can handle and it's painful.

Ditto! chew chew chew and don't eat foods that are too hard to begin with, I have felt them get stuck even with extensive chewing. I have the full feeling now, I haven't gotten uncomfortably full, just a one or two bite too much full, it's a learning curve for sure.

My nut said the size of your thumb is approximately 1oz for meat and fish. I generally use that. Also all cut pieces must be smaller than the size of dice before going in your mouth-then chew chew chew. Good luck!

In the beginning, I don't think measuring was as important as it is mor me now that I'm seven months out and down about 100 lbs. At first, your job is to get as much food and Water down as possible. Your new stomach and your throat are needing to heal. It will be a while. you won't be able to eat very much. Water is probably more important than food. As for scales, get a digital scale that will measure ounces. I'm an Amazon person because I can look at a whole line of things and pick the one that's going to work for me. As for measuring cups, I have one and two-cup Pyrex cups and stainless and plastic sets as well. I hope this helps.

I took the approach of eating high Protein homemade Soups and chili. I used measuring cups. Since my food groups were combined, the cups measured the total allotment for each meal rather than smaller individual allotments. Some measuring cups were hard to find such as the 3/4 cup, but they are available. My approach including recipes are contain in the following short article. http://www.breadandbutterscience.com/Surgery.pdf

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
