hcwild 22 Posted May 30, 2015 Hello all, I have a few weeks before my final NUT appointment. My boys, ages 7 and 14 have no idea that I plan to do this surgery. My oldest son has watched me struggle for years with my weight, exercising, eating healthy, but I have never made a point to say that I am struggling, or make negative comments about my weight. I want their self images to be positive, and not focus only on a scale. How did you all decide to tell your kids? Your thoughts/experiences are welcomed! My3lovies 25 Posted May 30, 2015 I thought about the same things you have ,so I told my children I was having hiatal hernia surgery which was partially true because they did fix that while they were in there ,but to this day they still don't know almost 2 years later. They assume all the weight was lost due to small portions, moving more and wanting to be healthier and I try to teach them the same...it's all about being healthy. Wrong or right this has worked for me . Best of luck on your decision & your surgery
Micdruss 213 Posted May 31, 2015 My kids are younger 7,6 &3. I didn't tell them anything before and they honestly didn't notice that I was eating/drinking differently. When I got home though my oldest noticed something was up so I told them that the dr went in and fixed my tummy. They accepted that with no other questions.
