Hi guys:

i want to go to Mexico and get my gastric sleeve. i am researching several doctors. Dr Kelly and Dr Rodriguez being two of them. Even though I speak Spanish I don't particularly want to go alone. Is there anyone that is 30-45 days out from getting their surgery that would like to go at the same time I do?

Maybe we'll get a discount for going together? Plus I can translate for you. :)

I would truly recommend Dr Ariel Ortiz.. I went on my own, made a friend in the waiting room and we supported each other... don't worry about going on your own..

Hi pr pitbullgirl!

love your username, btw!

I'm going to TJ June 18 for Dr. Rodriguez. I realize I'm too early but I wish you were going same time, I'll be going alone as dh is staying home with the wee ones. My Spanish is awful, even after 4 yrs in high school. I'm bringing my pocket translator with me.

Good luck!

I am having my Gastric Sleeve done on 03/30 with Dr Guillero Alvarez. I have 2 very good friends that have had the GS done with him 1 just a week ago and the other is a year and a half out and is down 100 lbs. I have been so extremely impressed and I work in the medical field. Everything is so professional, they are so amazingly helpful. My friend that just had it done says that American doctors should learn from them. She was so impressed. He is only 2 hours outside of San Antonio. I am not nervous at all.

I'm in the process of scheduling my surgery with Dr. Alvarez for July 30. A friend of mine used him for her surgery in 2010 and has nothing but praise for him, his staff && the whole process. So far, I've been very impressed with Susan, my contact person.

Is this around the time you will be going?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
