I'm also interested to hear people's thoughts on this. I'm considering purchasing a Garmin Vivosmart band as a "reward" after surgery.

I have the little fitbit Zip and clip it to my bra or pocket. I think it is a big motivation to walk more and to see the steps accumulate through the day. We stopped at Lowes and my DH said he would be right back, because I used to wait in the car and play games on my phone.... I instantly said "Wait, I want to go in too". I just didn't want to waste all those steps I could be getting, LOL. Of course it also works great to track your steps like a pedometer if you taking an actual walk or jog.

it makes me happy when my fitbit is smiling : )

I have a Fitbit Charge and I'm one of those people who have tried out a lot of fitness gadgets (Bodybugg/Bodymedia, Jawbone Up, pedometers, Vivofit) and I really enjoy the Fitbit. It's pretty similar to the Jawbone but I like that the Charge has a display so it can double as a watch. I wear it daily and it keeps me on track to making sure I hit those goals I set for myself. It's my favorite free service fitness app by far and I would recommend it to anyone who liked to check their stats throughout the day.

I have the Fitbit Charge, and I love it. Before that I had the Flex. I attribute my weight loss success to Fitbit helping me increase my activity level. You can add friends on there and do little challenges throughout the week. I actually added some people from the forum, it's fun to hold each other accountable.

I have a fitbit Flex and love it! I love when it starts vibrating on my wrist to tell me that I've met my step goal for the day. Gives me a positive outlook even if the rest of the day has been rotten

I have the Fitbit Charge and I love it! I've also had the Fitbit One, which was nice but I eventually lost it because the clip got too loose after a while.

I like the Charge because of the display, but it is a little bulky, especially if you've got smaller hands/wrists. I do love the Fitbit dashboard, the ability to do challenges with friends, and the easy sync to MyFitnessPal.

I don't think you'll be disappointed. Having the reminder right there on my wrist is a big motivator to get up and move.

I have a Fitbit flex and it really opened my eyes to how much I wasn't moving! I love it when it shakes and flashes that I meet my goal! It really helps keep me motivated to move.

I've had the Fitbit Flex for a year now and like it. I've never really tracked my Water, sleep, or food intake on it. Instead I use it as motivation to keep moving. I enjoy when my wrist vibrates for hitting a daily goal. You can compete against others, but I don't. I'm too competitive lol.

One downside I've noticed is that since it's placed on my wrist it tracks all hand movement as steps, so your actual step count can be off. One day during Girl Scout cookie sales I spent a large portion of my day waiving at cars (drive through cookie booth). By the end of the day it said I had completed 26 miles. I don't recall running a marathon.,,,

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
