Two week full liquid before sleeve diet motivation

Recommended Posts

I'm only four days in to two weeks of full liquids prior to June 8 sleeve date and met with surgeon Thursday for prevealuation, approvals, anesthesiologist etc., and I already lost five pounds! Everything's a go and for those of you who are struggling with 'time' waiting, uncertainty, self doubt...hang in there. I've been second guessing myself for months and now it's ten days away. Sure it's hard giving up food emotionally but to gain my health, comfort, confidence and energy will be worth it! I'm so used to not losing weight in the past (or gaining) I was elated to see a few pounds gone in a couple days. Commit, dedicate and be confident. It IS possible ????

Congratulations on your progress! I'm also pre-op (first day of pre-op diet). I'm pretty nervous about how I'll do on the liquid diet but I'm determined to be successful! Keep us updated on your progress!

I have not been scheduled yet, but I was told that I would have to be on a 1 week pre-op liquid diet since I am close to the 40 BMI marker and it would be devastating if I went below and could not have surgery. I know when my turn comes, I will be out of my mind weighing in everday. I purposefully gained 10 lbs so that I could have that as cushion before the pre-op diet. I am sure it wont be easy.

Hang in there - you can do it!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
