It's tricky to say as it was "silent" reflux. I didn't really ever have proper heartburn. So I'll find out at my 4-week appointment. Because of the way the bypass works I was told it would be almost impossible for me to have reflux afterward.

It's hard to tell with the diarrhea as well. It seems like it might be a smidge better but I am still on liquids so it's still not expected to be "normal" yet I suppose. So just waiting a bit longer to see.

Misty good to hear things are ok so far. I remember the problems you had before so fingers crossed you sail through this time. Take care

@@mistysj I sure hope this fixes things for you. I remember I had diarrhea for the first 5-6 weeks after surgery, and I was panicked it would be that way for the rest of my life. It felt like it lasted forever, and it wasn't pleasant. No one ever said it was a possibility, and I was shocked by it. I hope it can be over for you, too!

Misty... I am having the same problem with reflux only mine isn't silent anymore. In the stages of pre op testing. Gastric emptying scan in the morning then nutrition in the afternoon. I am scared. I could stand to lose more weight but I did lose a lot after my sleeve. Very happy actually where I am weight wise. Hope your doing well. Keep the updates coming please!

I hope all goes well for you! The thought of doing this surgery again scares the heck out me! I was recently diagnosed with a hiatal hernia three years post op and I pray it doesn't get worse.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
