Post-Op check in! Sleeved 5/26/15

Recommended Posts

I went home from the hospital today and got to drink Water for the first time! My barium swallow didn't show any leads! I shockingly haven't really had nausea but my stomach is still bothering me a ton! Every time I sit up, sit down, lay down, more in certain areas directions, etc. And I'm having really bad cramps. I don't know if it's just gas or if it's relayed to my period, because I went to the bathroom the say after surgery, peed, and saw blood in the toilet), but I used a pad they gave me and saw no blood after that time! I'm planning on asking my surgeon if there's anything I can take for Constipation. Oh! And I'm not hungry at all. So weird. Anybody else experience anything like these?

Sounds like you're doing good. I read that you may not feel hungry for a while after surgery. Be sure to keep hydrated. I'll be in your shoes in a little more than 3 weeks.

Keeping hydrated has definitely been difficult. I'm uncomfortable anyway and that doesn't make me want to sip Water all day.

I was sleeved on 5/25. Have not had the cramps and pain but want to get the answer to the Constipation question too. I was told it was normal to either cough up or pass blood after the op. Good luck.

I was sleeved on 5/27. I have been having major gas pains. Your pain could be related to gas. I also have not pooped since surgery. I returned home today and was okayed by doc to take over the counter Miralax to help with Constipation.

You're so right! I actually was freaked out be a useful I hadn't pooped since a few days before surgery and my surgeon said I could take coach and I haven't pooped yet, but I feel a lot better. I've been taking gas-ex too and it seems to help.

I turned corner today and had a tremendous amount of gas pass. That helped with pain a ton.

I was sleeved on 5/27 and I have been having the same discomfort! It's been very difficult for me to sip Water because my stomach keeps cramping and making noises everytime. I have been using a sippy cup and that helps a little better now. As far as the pains, I switch from side to side and try to get the gas moved around...it has helped this morning!

I am feeling about 70 percent today. Moving around, showered, walking some.

I'm having the same problem. I thought I was taking sips but then when I took tiny, tiny sips, I didn't feel as much cramps. I haven't even hungry at all and the MyFitnessPal app has to keep reminding me to eat! I can't wait until I can sleep on my side again! I'm a horrible back-sleeper.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
