mal0712 101 Posted May 28, 2015 Did/does anyone have a fear of eating post op? I am literally afraid to eat alot of times. They put me on soft foods now and I'm scared to actually do it....
Djmohr 6,965 Posted May 28, 2015 Yes, it is completely normal. The best thing you can do is go slow and try one new thing at a time. Make sure you chew like crazy and everything will be ok. You learn to eat again by trial and error. Once you get going the fear will subside. Good luck!

hellohealthy 32 Posted May 28, 2015 Your pouch will definitely let you know when you've had enough. Pay attention to your body
TXMissy 211 Posted May 28, 2015 Being afraid is normal. I went to a birthday party this past weekend and literally they served me more than i can eat in a week. I panicked and immediately gander the plate to the women i was sitting next to and offered to help serve. It was a lot more comfortable than explaining why i couldn't eat that much. You will be fine, just chew! ! And chew! ! And chew! !
rnyryry 8 Posted May 29, 2015 Chew until is dead and take at least 15-20 mins to eat. I felt the same way but its trial and error. You have to eat lol
Band07 374 Posted May 30, 2015 I was so scared I actually believe they could have put me out, woke me up and just told me I had surgery and I would have lost weight from being afraid to eat !! Though it wasn't so much afraid to eat as afraid of dumping ! I still won't try any new foods while I'm at work just in case, however for the most part the fear goes away the further out you are. I'm a little over 5 weeks and find it definitely gets easier with time.
diamondtammi 3 Posted June 6, 2015 I experienced dumping today just by eating a boiled egg. I didn't chew it very well.... My stomach was hurting soooooo bad. It subsided after about 45 mins.
