It is real! I quit caffeine two years ago and I thought I had the flu at first. Horrible headaches, but it does get better after a week.

Yeah. I had to stop caffeine with my 2 week pre-op diet and couldn't have it again until 30 days post-op. WORST TIME OF MY LIFE! :P

I weaned myself off it slowly, cutting from 2 big travel mugs of coffee to 1.5, then 1, then using a slightly smaller mug, then an even smaller one... until on Monday I decided I could go without. I had a nasty headache all day, but I think it was actually mostly due to seasonal allergies. Tuesday I was fine, I'm just missing the act of drinking coffee or iced tea. But I wanted to be through caffeine withdrawal before going on my liquid diet this coming Monday. Otherwise my husband might leave me! ;)

Yep! Caffeine withdraw is definitely real! I had to wean myself off by doing half & half. Half fully leaded, and half Decaf. The headaches were still there, but not as bad... Decaf is okay, but now I find myself not having coffee at all some days and I'm okay with it!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
