Hey there September sleevers! Any one out there?

Recommended Posts

So let's talk about rehabilitation time.... I have seen people taking a month, two weeks, 5 days... What do your surgeons recommend?

I haven't discussed it with my sugeon yet but I can do 11 days. That's it. LOL. Considering I came home from a c-section in 48 hours and walked up a flight of stairs and took care of my son alone everyday until I went back to work, I think this should be fairly easy.

What's up Wonder Woman!!!! Hahah

The same here... and I have a vertical cut which is very painful. I hope this is much easier than that.

I thought a week too but the psychologist suggested two. He had the surgery and said he went back in a week. He called himself a desk jockey and wished he taken two. Now that's got me thinking.

My surgeon suggest 3-4 weeks. My understanding is that you will be very tired at first due to the reduced calories during the first few weeks.

I plan one week off and 2nd week working from home. It's a "behind computer" and on conference calls job so I should be fine.

I also work a desk job so I think 11 days will be ok, If not I will have to suck it up! LOL

I just can't believe that we are half way thru July!!! That school goes back in just a few weeks too!

Time seems to be flying on one hand and going in slowwwwwwwwwww motion on the other!

Hello all, I too am "tentatively" scheduled for September, the 21st to be exact... but that date can change depending on my insurance. I have my psych evaluation on 7/27, and my last dietary apt on 08/03 and then it will be submitted to my insurance for hopefully QUICK approval. I have read, and read and read until I can't read anymore. I am ready to do this... but of course I have a lot of nerves. My main concerns is about blood clots. Although I am not someone who get blood clots I know that is a concern for sleevers. My gastric Dr, kind of made a big deal about the clots in return making me want to research until my fingers bleed (not really) and I just can't research anymore. I guess this is all part of the process, worry, nerves, excitement all wrapped up in 1! I am putting it in God's hands and hope and pray and have faith that everything will go as planned. I look forward to following this forum during my process. :)

check your messages :D

I am hoping that I only need 2 weeks, but I can take as many as needed since I am having surgery. My job will not allow me to come back until the Dr fully releases me. Thankfully mine is paid under STD and paid at 100%... I am lucky in that sense ;)

Blood clots- I was told that I needed to give myself a shot everyday for the first week or so to help with blood clots. They are going to teach me how to give myself a shot right before surgery and then in the hospital. (I actually blocked this out of my mind until blood clots were just brought up! uhh.... not thrilled about giving myself a shot but I guess it is much better than taking the chance with blood clots.)

Telling work- I told my supervisor. I need to work with our HR group once I have my surgery date. I am only telling my co-workers that I am having surgery. I am not going into details. Since I have already lost 40# pre op and hope to have 50 pound off before surgery- I don't think they will know. I have made sure everyone knows that I am going to a NUT and that is why I am losing weight right now. HR and your supervisor cannot disclose why you are on medical leave- that is against the law. I'm not opposed to telling folks but right now I am only sharing this with my close friends and family.

So does this mean that everyone is going to have to give them self a shot ?

That's a good question, I don't think so but now I am certainly going to add it onto my "things to ask" list!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
