Past two days have been difficult for me wanting to smoke. I'm only 9 days smoke free. This is very very hard not to do. Especially being already tense from wanting this surgery over already. Longest time of my life I believe!

@@mandaroo I don't think the craving ever really goes away. But it may become easier to work through them. I am only 1 year and 2 months smoke free. I hope I never pick them up again. This is the longest I've gone without smoking, So, I am giving credit to my ecig. It is a nice substitute and it doesn't stink up my house, car or hair!

I do t think the cravings will go away... To many triggers. Everyone around me smokes. I've quit worse things in life so I think I'll be OK. I think I might get another pen just to have around just in case. The worst part of quiting for surgery is having to be on the dreaded pre op diet at the same time.

It is very, very hard not smoking. I keep telling myself it's more than worth it to have this surgery tho. Cause I want this so very badly! No pain, no gain. But I am taking Chantix too. Not using an e CIG. Too afraid in my case I would fall back too easily if I did.

I quit smoking October 2004 it was the best thing I could have done for my daughters and me. The craving will go away but it takes a looonnnggg time. One doctor told me 7years and that's about right. I am now to the point I can't stand cigarette smoke. I used wellbutrin for the first two yrs to help.

I quit cold turkey 1/15/15, one month to the day after we buried my Mom after a horrific year battling brain cancer. I can't believe I did it. As one of you said, I am almost more proud of that than doing WLS. I have ruined so many vacations, have been a crabby mom and wife all because of my obsessive "closet" smoking habit. It's time to embrace LIFE and HEALTHINESS!

Not sure on an ecig. I think they will find them bad for you very soon. Why get hooked on that.

Well done to you all, ! :). For me this wasn't a hard thing to do as i was really ready to quit. I had tried twice before and failed. This time around i got help from my GP and used Champix to help me along with a Nicorette inhalator. It gave me a nicotine hit if and when i needed it without the smoke. Within two weeks i was off smokes. After smoking for 33 years this was for me one of the best things i did for myself. I have been smoke free since Dec 2013 and have loved every minute of it.

what are your side effects to Chantrix - if any? I'm thinking about asking my PCP to assist me.

I haven't had any side effects with it. Been on it 2 months. It did take a whole month to take effect good, but well worth it

I was lucky, i had no side effects. Having said that others that i know that have tried have had the following : heart palpatations and vivid nightmares.

Best wishes to you.
