chrissykas 0 Posted May 28, 2015 I am new here and will not be having my surgery until October. My BMI is 35 and I am getting so much negativity from heavier people when I go to my appointments. So many rude comments. ..........I have major health issues and need to do this to live a normal length of life. It does make me nervous but I know I need to do this. These comments are making me feel guilty about my decision.
notforthefaint 264 Posted May 28, 2015 I am new too, hoping for an early September date. As for the guilt and negativity just let it roll over you. You and only you know why you are choosing this and it is not up to any one else to judge. I don't think that you have any reason to feel guilty. Hang in there! wannaBthinsoon 1,634 Posted May 28, 2015 My BMI was 42 when I began this journey, and the people I chatted with in the waiting room all thought I was post surgery, and told me I looked great! ha! When I told them I was pre-op, they'd all say....you don't need the surgery, you could do it with just diet and exercise. (really?!) I just smiled and said thank you, or you are so kind. etc.
Jb1176 79 Posted May 28, 2015 I got lots of looks as well when I went to my first meeting. No one said anything but I'm sure they thought what is he doing here. My BMI was 38 but I had high blood pressure, cholesterol and knee problems as well as sleep apnea issues. I had failed at numerous diets over 40 years. I could lose weight but it always came back plus even more pounds. I did this for me. I wanted a better quality of life and I wanted to live longer. This surgery is my last hope. So far I am totally satisfied with my decision. best of luck to you. Listen to yourself and actualize your goals.
