Surgery was Tuesday afternoon and went well. Couldn't sleep last night or tonight. Asking myself why did I do this. Crying for no apparent reason. Can anyone relate or give me ways to cope with these thoughts?

these thoughts are normal and will improve (usually within days). You just went through a traumatic experience and a life changing one. Just remember, this is a day to day process right now and you just need time to recover and to adjust.

Also, watch the pain meds, they can make you fee like this as well. I was on Oxycontin and while it worked wonders, it did make me feel sad/emotional while taking it. I stopped taking it on Day 3 because I didn't feel like I truly needed it and all of those symptoms improved.

You will be fine. Try to rest.

@@Bethson I totally agree with @@Vikingsfan8178 about the meds and the life changing decision. If you can get off the pain meds and do OTC if you can. I am only 3 weeks and 1 day out and I have read about this a lot on these forums. I personally didn't feel this way. My thoughts were more about losing my hair. I am not a girly girl but my ONLY attribute I did manage to hold onto was my hair. Its grey now and thinner now that I am 52 and now in menopause, the thought of losing it (because of the sleeve) just kind of freaks me out. I was assured it will come back....so I have decided I may join the pink ladies (Red Hat) and start wearing some funky pink hats:D

I It will get better and you will be thankful for the "tool" you decided to get to help you get healthier and live a better life :D

Morning.

This, too, will pass. I have been on this site for almost 7 months now and almost everyone has gone through this feeling. I promise it will go away and you will be fine afterwards.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
