Hello everyone!!!! My name is Nellie!!!! Although I'm new here I've been lurking for quite sometime.... I wanna thank everyone here for being so incredibly loving and supportive I truly feel welcomed... I don't have much support from family with my decision to have weightloss surgery... Everyone feels I should just go to the gym and starve myself to see results... I even got embarrassed by one of my co- workers today during a meeting.... She said incredibly loud and in front of everyone: Oh my god Nellie what happened???? You put on even more weight than when I saw u before!!!" Everyone turn around and stared at me as I hurried to take my seat in the back of the room... I didn't answer her I just kept it moving.....But I felt hurt and highly embarrassed... How can people be so mean???? And u no what she's heavy too!!!! I'm like seriously???? What hurt the most is that I'm such a loving caring person who judges no one!!!! I don't care if young, my senior, heavy, slim and I absolutely don't see color!!!! I give respect where respect due... If you love me, I love you too!!! If your kind to me, I'll be kind to you....and if you need me I'll always be there for you!!!!

I am so sorry to hear that you have such insensitive coworkers. But you have made the right decision to come here. Every one is very supportive and always want to know how everyone is doing. It is a journey and we will all be here for you.

Welcome Nellie! Congrats on making a life changing decision! I am also so sorry that you have not been supported. People can be so mean and it just means they are unhappy within themselves so they have to bring you down to make themselves feel better.

You will be a huge success and then they will be jealous of that...just know you are doing the right thing and look to where you will be a year from now.

Good luck on your journey!!

Hi and welcome some ppl feel the need to point out things about others to feel superior it's a cowardly childish way to behave I think so ppl don't figure out what their shortcomings are perhaps next time reply... Yes Nancy I see we are in the same club we should chat I'll tell u what I'm considering doing to change that it would surely benefit you as well that should shut her up

Welcome, so sorry you have a disrespectful co worker. But good news is soon we'll all be smaller and you can laugh it off soon. I am very sensitive to my weight, and would be so embarrassed if it happened to me. We are all here together!! Keep your chin up.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
