I am 10 days out. I feel terrible. Having that feeling of " what the hell did I do". "Worst mistake of my life". I am only on Clear Liquids. When I drink I get this feeling , spasm intermittent pain to my stomach which goes away fast but takes my breathe away. Has anyone else had this? I feel like I will never be able to eat again. I have to stay on liquids until June 1. Then to puree. I am so scared. The pain is terrible. I have many friends who swear this is the best thing ever. They keep saying this is temporary. I hold my faith in that and keep going. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your support.

Maybe you are drinking too much too fast. Try slowing down...

@@MyNewLife28 I am drinking SMALL sips. I don't know how to make it any smaller. The pain is annoying. I feel weak. My surgeon keeps people on clear liquids for two weeks. No Protein. It's rough. I think it is compounding how bad this is. But hopefully next week it will be better when I am on puree.

I had reflux the first month to the point I couldn't sleep well from coughing then things got MUCH better! Check with your doc on a higher dose PPI or different PPI. I still take 40mg Omeprazole 2xday but no symptoms. Hang in there!

Yes, yes and yes!. The feelings of regret hit me hard about 8 days out and I just couldn't shake them- I also felt extreme sadness and believed I should have been just happy being a big girl- at least I could turn to my constant companion - food- when the going got tough...

I am now 3 weeks post op and still struggle with some regret, although it is improving. The sadness remains so not sure what to do about that.

On a positive, I have lost 26 lbs and am starting to notice a difference in my clothes and how my body is moving a little differently.. I'm just trying to focus on the future, take one day, one meal at a time and be open to all suggestions.. Good luck... Hope this helps and makes you feel a little better:)

The first month is definitely the worst. It was 8 to 10 weeks before I really felt more "normal" in terms of activity and strength. After about 3 months I could pretty much eat or drink whatever I chose to -- of course not a lot of it. I have been keeping track of the non-scale victories. Try to focus on all of those things that you are going gain from losing weight.

Remember life pre-op was challenging. If it wasn't you wouldn't have chosen surgery. Now you will still have some challenges, but they are different challenges, and, hopefully you'll be facing them with a healthier you!

Good luck!

Please do this ASAP, Prilosec......You will be glad you took it. It was the only thing that stopped the acid.

I had the same feeling, its called espohogeal spasams. it goes away over time. You will just need to ride out the uncomfortable feelings and then they will be an after thought. Stay strong. You will be okay.

I am nine months out and I STILL have days when I regret having been sleeved. But most days, I just deal with it. Overall, As long as I can use it to help me achieve my weight goal and keep it off, it is worth having it. But if you read my past posts, I have really been upset about it more than not.

Most people eventually get over the regret period and that will likely be your own experience - just hang in there.

My question is what does the surgeon say when patients vomit so soon after surgery?

As a nurse my initial reaction is that vomiting must be extremely painful, and what happens to your suture line during up chuck ?

Vomiting happen when you too much to eat or ate too fast.......

take a small bite, wait a few minutes to see how your new tummy will

Like or not and go from there if gets bad contact your doctor!!

I didn't feel this in the beginning, but sometime when I want to eat something that taste good and can only have a bite or two then yes, I will have small regrets, I think we all do at different stages of our journeys.

I certainly did about 3 weeks ago when my girls had a Band Banquet and I thought, I could have a very small piece of cake from costco. Boy was I very wrong. It was the first and only time I had been so sick that I had to throw up. Let me tell you I had a lot of regrets that day. I told my husband I am so sick of not being able to eat what I want, but then he reminded my how nice I am looking and how strong I am getting, and with out this WLS I would not have been able to get where I am now.

So, just know we all have these feelings, it is how we deal with them that make the difference. Good Luck I hope you have moved a little past this point.

Tess.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
