JamieLogical 8,710 Posted May 27, 2015 That seems like a LOT for 16 days post-op. I wasn't even allowed soft foods until 18 days post-op and when I was, it was a challenge for me to get in one ounce of tuna. Some people don't get a "full" feeling shortly after surgery due to nerve trauma. Perhaps that is your issue? You should definitely talk to your nutritionist or surgical team and ask them how much you should be eating at once. I was told to only eat 2 oz. at a time that soon out of surgery, so I weighed and measured everything so I wouldn't eat too much at once.
amazon 579 Posted May 27, 2015 you have to measure. Your tummy won't give you full signals for some time yet. It's healing. Your NUT should have told you how much to have. Did you receive any materials? At this point, I was still on liquids. Two oz. sounds right for soft foods to start, but it's been a while. I would contact your NUT anyway. Always the best advice (professional). :-)

amazon 579 Posted May 27, 2015 I think there's a difference between "soft foods" and something like yogurt. I don't think you can over fill you're sleeve on yogurt - I've been told it's more like a liquid. But canned chicken, I don't think that would pass through so quickly? At 16 days, you're still healing. Please just be careful. .
JamieLogical 8,710 Posted May 27, 2015 I also hsd an appointment yesterday and she didn't seems concerned that i could eat a full cup of yogurt. There's a BIG difference between a container of yogurt (usually around 5 oz.) and canned chicken. Yogurt is pretty much a liquid. I was allowed it during my full liquids phase. Solid Proteins on the other hand are FAR more taxing for the stomach to process and pass. So you could potentially be putting a lot of undue stress on your healing stomach by eating too much solid Protein at once.

Miss Mac 6,262 Posted May 27, 2015 I started soft foods at 21 days, and had to measure and weigh my food. I was allowed 1/3 plus 2 tablspoons, and often could not finish the last bite. Closer to six months I couls eat about 3/4 cup of food (6 oz.), and it was not until nearly a year that I could eat a cup of anything. Just be careful. It does sound like a lot to me so early in the game.
wannaBthinsoon 1,634 Posted May 27, 2015 WOW! that seems like a lot to me. I am 5 weeks out and I can only eat about a tablespoon of chicken. My surgery was 4/23. chicken is so dense, I don't know how you ate that much.

Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted May 28, 2015 I was sleeved April 20 and still haven't tried chicken. I was allowed canned chicken the same week I was allowed tuna but it still seems like it would be too heavy.
