My surgery is one week away... June 3rd.

I'm at a loss for words. I'm excited but scared. Happy but anxious. Confident but worried. It took so long, but it's come so quick. I think I might be going nuts :-) .

Don't get me wrong, I know this is a good thing, and exactly what I need, but it's kinda surreal... know what i mean?

Best of luck with everything. Keep us posted with your experience . ..I'm still going through approval process...I'm going through the 6 month supervised visits and my interest is fading

Hang in there. My requirements began with an orientation meeting that led to 12 weeks of classes (once a week). Yes 12 WEEKS! Plus it was extended by 2 weeks because we started right before thanksgiving and had 2 days off due to the holidays. Then meeting with Drs, sleep apnea study, psych eval, more Drs, PCP final approval, meet with the surgeon, and it's finally here!

It'll come. Just takes time. ;-)

I just had my surgery yesterday. I can relate to being nervous. It was done and in recovery before I could say boo. I'm home and sticking to the plan. I couldn't be happier. I'm so excited for you! The new you! Yah!!!

I'm one week away too!! And feeling the exact same way. It's nerve-wracking but yet I'm still so excited! I can't wait for the day to come but I'm scared for it as well.

I take time each day to look at old photos of myself from over the years and it makes me feel more excited than anything. I also like to check on here for before and after photos to help gear me up for the big day. I honestly cannot wait to actually have an "after" photo!!! :)

Best of luck to you on June 3rd. I'll be right behind you on June 4th :)

That's a great idea! I'll have to pull up some old albums. Not just the ones of myself overqwight, but the ones from before I gained all my weight. It'll be a before, after, before, and finally set of pics. Thanks for the tip!

I'm located in CT. I'd love to keep in touch! It's nice to have a place like this to find support from people experiencing the same thing.

Where are you from?

I'm in Southern California, near LA. That's the good thing about modern technology, it makes it possible for people so far from each other to communicate easily. ;-)

Yes, definitely! Well keep in touch and keep me posted on your progress! I'm hoping to have wifi in my hospital room afterwards so I can keep this handy app on hand in case I need some support :)

@@cantseemytoes thanks so much for the encouraging words. I would have preferred 12 weeks straight than once a month that way it will be more relevant. Sometimes I forget that I'm going through this process. I'm curious what type of insurance do you have or is it self pay?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
