sleevenv 483 Posted July 4, 2015 I drank three 8 oz Protein Shakes (under an hour on each), two 8 oz chicken broths (Unjury protein), and several SF Popsicles over the course of today. Each is allowed per my surgeon, but I don't think I'm expected to consume 8 ozs at a time. I burp a little but it feels like it slides right through my stomach. No other drinking close before or for a half hour after. I don't feel like I'm putting any pressure on my sleeve. Too much for 3 days out?

If you're one of those people against taking meds, drink prune juice or something.

Happy13 14 Posted July 4, 2015 Oh boy why do I have to be the different one? I was sleeved on the 30th (and also had gallbladder out) I'm still having a tough time! Today's 4 days and my voice is finally coming back, I had a bad reaction to anesthesia. I was vomiting since day 1 (worst feeling ever)! Today I woke up feeling much better! Ugh the struggle IS real!!!

Ugh the struggle IS real!!! Oh @@Happy13! I'm so sorry for your struggles, the throwing up must be unbearable. I only "gagged" a few times the first day and thought I was ripping my insides out! Two sneezes this morning HURT! I surely hope the worst is behind you! I've had so many surgeries that anesthesia wasn't even on my radar of concern. Your trials humble me and make my need to poop so inconsequential!
roseluv3 33 Posted July 5, 2015 (edited) Soooooo...I've survived two 4th of July cookouts and we have another one today. Today is day 6 post op. I haven't really been able to get any Protein down, I don't actually want it. I'm not hungry. So I've just been trying to keep hydrated with Water. I don't have much heartburn but my incisions do hurt sometimes. Other than that no complaints...I just want to get back to my daily life. And I am looking forward to chew food one day though. Mel77 67 Posted July 5, 2015 Hang in there it'll pass sooner than you think. I'm one month post and I feel almost back to normal. Keep searching for a Protein Shake. Protein is the key to weight loss! Keep up the good fight everyone!
laguerr13 993 Posted July 5, 2015 (edited) On the 10th of July I will be 1 month post op, and I feel great, I had BBQ for the first time yesterday, steak, shrimp, sausage, the cool part is I ate 2 bites of the sausage, 2 of the 3 med Shrimp, and 3 oz if the steak, and I was full!!!!!!!, this is an awesome change for me and I utilize the sleeve with what I've learned, a typical Sunday Breakfast would have been 2 eggs, 6 pieces of bacon and 8 tortillas, today it was 1 egg, half a sausage, and 1 slice of 7 grain bread, and I left 1/4 piece of the bread and 1/2 a sausage, and I always remove the plate and yell I'm done just to re-affirm it to myself, I actually find it harder with drinks, I'm craving things like Energy drinks, my coffee, and yesterday I wanted a beer so bad( I always limited myself to 1 or 2 after college), I'm still researching the alcohol thing, too many varying opinions, even a couple of theories that some wine is good for you after gastric! We will see Edited July 5, 2015 by laguerr13
sleevenv 483 Posted July 5, 2015 (edited) @laguerre13 You are only 3 weeks post op and can eat all that meat? I know each surgeon is different, but I haven't read anyone who's eating all that meat before their 1 month out date. I'm in full liquids until the one month mark and then purée for two weeks and soft for two after that. I'm not even allowed the think about what you ate until I'm at least two months out. I think I'd be scared! How wonderful you are able to experience the food with control! Edited July 5, 2015 by sleevenv
laguerr13 993 Posted July 5, 2015 My understanding was as long as it wasn't crunchy or hard, so yeah, and don't think it's that great, after I was 2/3s into meal I started hiccuping, which told me I was full, after almost 4 weeks of liquids and Soups I really wanted that portion of steak, but I'm realistic now and I let my stomach rule and not my head, my head goes back to my upbringing and says things like "your wasting food" " clean your plate" " you didn't like my food? " Etc. so when I eat rule no. 1 is that I'm fault vigilant about my meal, by using my sleeve, and body, and soon my brain will catch up, it's easy if you realize where it all started, you can do this, we are all stronger than we think until we see ourselves making achievements over and over!!!! Daisy Girl 38 Posted July 6, 2015 I am just over 3 weeks out and I met with my NUT last week. I had gone back to work last Monday and had bad stomach ache all day Monday and Tuesday. My NUT pointed out that maybe I was having too much dairy and that was the answer. I was drinking yogurt shakes and eating yogurt for snack and lunch bc it was convenient for lunch at work and it had lots of Protein. I had been drinking lots of Protein Shakes but with almond milk that doesn't have any lactose so that didn't bother me. Now I feel great. My NUT also told me to start eating regular foods. Yeah. I can actually chew food. I made chili and put it into small containers. I had a tiny bit of London broil yesterday. I cut into really small pieces and chewed it to death and it was fine. Today I had some chicken and the same thing. Real food with real taste! Yeah me!
