What is the pre op process.

It is different for every doctor. Some require a liquid diet for a period of time. My doctor requires 30-40 carb a day for two weeks prior. Your surgeon will let you know what they prefer. Also, your doctor may require additional testing. That will vary from situation to situation. It will depend on what medical issues you have going on.

I'm wondering the same thing. I've told only immediate family. I'm apprehensive about telling people. I feel like this is very personal. But on the other hand, it will also be very noticeable. Not quite sure how to handle questions from people.

I thought about this a lot myself, but then I thought, if someone actually asked me flat-out, that would really be quite rude of them, and quite frankly, I would tell them so ! Of course, there are many that will be thinking it. They just won't come out and say it. I think the answer is, you are not obligated to answer or explain anything to anyone, unless you so choose :)

Me, too! liquids only on Monday, and surgery on Tuesday. Guess I'll get some groceries on the weekend, just to be sure I've got what I need for the next week or so.

T- 6days t surgery and counting, still feeling positive and strong, it was a big boost not to cheat when I went to my Dr.s office Tuesday for my last pre op visit and I weighed in at 349, I started this journey at 388 and started to "practice diet" in March, Dr said I will be at between 328-333 on my surgery date, yesterday I took a few hours to get my "buyers remorse" out of the way, seriously! I sat down and questioned the surgery, pain, and diet, then I got up and proceeded with my day, hopefully I've covered everything!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
