I've decided to buy new clothes on a monthly basis. Not a whole wardrobe, just a few pieces to get me by until the next drop in size.

I had some clothes up to 3 sizes below what I was wearing on surgery day from all my previous weight loss attempts. Once I went through them, I would buy a couple pairs of pants and a shirt or two from the thrift store as I continued to lose and drop sizes. My old tops were easier to wear than pants even when they were too big. I would let my jeans get quite baggy and cinch up my belt before I bought another pair. I didn't buy new clothes until I knew my weight had stabilized about 9-10 months postop. I did keep one pair of 22W jeans for posterity's sake and my current size 5's still seem like doll clothes when I go to put them on!

I waited until clothes were just way too big, and bought about every other size. I staggered my jeans and my work pants so I would have at least one thing that fit right all the time. For example, I bought 24 work pants, but waited until I was in 22 jeans. Then I got size 18 work pants, and 16 jeans. It was kind of crazy how fast I was in and out of sizes, so don't buy too much. I also shopped clearance racks a lot, and you can get really good deals on things you actually like if you keep on checking each time you go in.

I also have a closet filled with different sizes...so one night I tried them all on. I made piles of things that fit now...things that would fit soon...and things for after that! I put a big plastic bag on the floor for things to pass along as they no long fit. So far, so good. It has stopped me from pulling my hair out trying to get dressed in the morning. Also, if I have somewhere special to be, I try to figure out the night before what will work.

Shopping for clothes will one day be fun! While you are losing so quickly, switch to dresses! My sister said that was her salvation when she was changing sizes so quickly. She also told me to have one good pair of black pants and a pair of jeans. We can go anywhere in these!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
