Dream125 23 Posted May 27, 2015 Hello fellow sleevers, I am 8 days post op today, and I am ravishingly hungry! It's weird because if I take a few sips of my Tomato basil Soup, it feels weird going down and I won't want anymore. I want to chew and I want something tasty. None of the broths or Soups that I have are hitting the spot. Any ideas/suggestions are welcome! I'm miserable at the moment, can't tell if it's head hunger or actual hunger. I think my body is tripping out because I haven't had food in almost two weeks. Thanks for listening (reading)...????????

Babbs 14,681 Posted May 27, 2015 It's head hunger and it sucks. Just hang tough. Try to find something, anything on your plan that will satiate you. I found getting really good gourmet Soups (no big chunks of course) helped satisfy the head hunger. Also, what @@Piesanders said. Keep yourself busy! This too shall pass
wannaBthinsoon 1,634 Posted May 27, 2015 @@Dream125 Here's a tip from someone who knows......don't rush into soft foods too quickly. I felt hungry too at first. Now that I am on soft foods I get full so quickly. I've told people that I don't know how I am still alive with as little as I eat. One tablespoon of pureed pork roast, and I am FULL to the gills. I can't imagine being able to eat more than what I eat now. I am afraid to. I'm sure I would toss my cookies! Best wishes to you.
Dream125 23 Posted May 27, 2015 Thank you ladies! I'm typically the one who tries to be strong for everyone else, thank you for allowing me to be vulnerable, this is such a safe place. I did eat a Popsicle and I plan on going to the store tomorrow to buy some good Soups. I feel better, just a little down. I guess I'm missing food. Thanks again for helping me be strong ???????? wannaBthinsoon 1,634 Posted May 27, 2015 Can you tolerate sugar free Jello? I practically lived on that for 2 weeks. Plus it helped with my nails and my hair! AND it filled me up a little better than just plain old liquids.

My wife made a package of instant mashed potatoes, then refrigerates it. I scoop a table spoon out, add some chicken broth and a little butter and nuke it. Probably the equivalent of creamy potatoe Soup, but I'm to cheap to throw away expensive soups because can't finish them. It's not like they sell them by the spoonful ( which is what I need).. " hi, I'll like one chicken nugget and two French fries please." "is that a 4, 6 or 10 piece nugget?" " it one single nugget and two individual fries!" Mandyctr 75 Posted May 27, 2015 Be strong, it passes. It was TERRIBLE for me. I hated every minute of it. I even had dreams of eating at a buffet, it was crazy (and embarassing) how obsessed I was. It will get better and you'll even look back and think "that wasn't so bad".
Wil 7 Posted May 28, 2015 Patience. Its in your head. Your ghrelin hormone is gone/reduced and you should be able to control those urges easily. Thats what I tell myself. sugar free popsicles and Jello are life savers. I found that I could eat a little more solid by lightly blending Soups like Campbells Chunky. That way it has a more body but no real chunks. Still tasted great and it hung around for a while. Soups were my saviour, but just broth was nasty. Couldn't do it. Can't stand Protein drinks either. Now that I'm "eating" I find that one small bite over my max will make me nauseated. Awful feeling till it passes but it teaches you to go easy. The whole eating experience is different feeling. You have to re-learn. Just take it easy and experiment a little bit. Remember you have the rest of your life! Counting my 2 week prediet I am 43 pounds down. Pleased as punch. craigcu 96 Posted May 31, 2015 (edited) Vsg dessert night!!: 1: load family up and find nearest self-serve frozen yogurt shop (TCBY) worked for us. 2. Ask for a few sample cups or spoons to try some flavors 3: while family is deciding and getting theirs, try all the different flavors (built in small portions and slow consumption). 4: total consumption is about 2 ounces and cost nothing and adds some Protein (according to mfp). 5: couldn't find a flavor I liked (wink) and head home. awesome!!!!!!!! Anyone else have great tricks like this? I'm thinking BaskinRobbins is next, eight or nine sherbet types in there.. Edited May 31, 2015 by craigcu
