Do you make homemade meatballs? or frozen?

At the time that I posted that I was eating whatever frozen meatballs I could find at the store (because I hated cooking!) ... but I have since found this recipe (and became addicted to them) and now I make them myself ... :)

Parmesan Meatballs

1.5 lbs Ground Beef

3/4 C Shredded Parmesan cheese

2 eggs

1 tsp Dried Parsley

Dash of Pepper

2-3 T Butter

15oz Can of Tomato Sauce

1 Clove Garlic

1/2 tsp Onion powder

1/4 tsp Basil

1/8 tsp Oregano

Combine beef, cheese, eggs, parsley & pepper until well mixed then shape into meatballs. Melt butter in a large skillet and cook until all sides are browned. Place browned meatballs in the crock pot or a casserole dish suitable for the oven.

Combine the tomato sauce, garlic, onion powder, basil & oregano. Pour over the meatballs, stirring gently to coat.

Turn crock pot on low for 1-4 hours OR bake, uncovered in an oven at 350 for 30-40 minutes.

**I make them in the crock pot and although the recipe says 1-4 hours, I let them cook on low for 6-7 hours ... they turn out really tender and oh so yummy!**

How do you make the chocpeanut butter shake?

I mix a chocolate Protein shake (either Atkins or EAS) with 2 T Peanut Butter and a couple packets of Splenda, add a handful of ice and blend them in the bullet ...

Oh my the recipe sounds fantastic :)

I'm wondering what the carb count is? I started my self-imposed one month pre-op low carb diet today, and those sound like they'd really be yummy and low carb. How many meatballs do you make out of that recipe?

Well, at first glance, the only thing I see that has substantial carbs is the can of Tomato sauce. And even then, it has minimal impact considering it's just a "topping" of sorts and not an actual ingredient in the meatballs. The shredded parmesan also has minimal carbs.

I think I might be cooking meatballs in the crockpot tomorrow afternoon! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
