WHOOPS I did not mean to set anyone off in a bad direction. I just was sort of "observing" that other people eat less than nutritious items for 1-2 or two meals a day, which is my same problem. I was really more shocked by how very little some of you eat compared to me - but I have only had three fills. I think we all do what we have to to get by, and truly over portion and over eating were always my worst problem, so now that is mostly fixed, I am personally trying to eat a little healthier, but it SO HARD sometimes!

Here is what I ate today:

oatmeal packet, did not finish.

Protien shake

1/2 cup chicken salad w/ a few crackers, cheese stick

some of my kids animals Cookies

1/2 bottle fruit juice smoothie.< /p>

....and that is all before dinner!

L- 1/2 cup chicken salad, 5 wheat crackers, 1 boiled egg

S- handful of p-nuts

D- didn't wk

FF cool whip w/ peaches (2 oz)

McSteph100,

No problem. I too thought that I could never eat less than 2 cups of anything, but as I continued to get my fills, I had more restrictions. There are still days that I can eat more, and sometimes I do. The most part, I do eat less. I may not always get it right, but I can only hold me accountable. I'm not a cook, actually I detest it, but I've gotten some great recipes from this site and everyone has been so gracious and kind to post them. I will be cooking some of them this week.It will get better and less as time goes on. Welcome:thumbup:

Hope you post also, JMEGIRL.

Been banded 3 months and need to get some new food ideas so decided this thread would be one to pay attention to. Read back through all the pages and already have some good ideas. My doc has me on 3 one half cup meals per day....no Snacks. I have pretty good restriction after two fills.

B- Plain Oikos Greek yogurt with S.F. caramel Syrup

L- 1 Tbls. L.F. mayo, 2.5 ounces grilled chicken wrapped in lettuce leaves.

D - 1/2 portabella mushroom, 2 oz. diced chicken, 2 Tbls L.F. cheese drizzled with F.F. Italian dressing and baked. Very filling and great taste.

I noticed a couple of pages back that someone was eating hummas? I went to the store to look for some and it only had 1g Protein. Is there a higher brand that I should be looking for?

Also...I wished I lived next door to some of you so that you could leave me a plate of your yummy leftovers on the porch...I hate cooking!!!!

bigbaby,

I make my own hummus which I figure has about 8 g of Protein for 1/4 cup serving. I have noticed the store bought brands don't have very much protein in them. I will be posting the recipe shortly.

Bloo,

I am glad you liked the Soup.

Hummus is a middle eastern dip made out of chick peas (garbanzo beans). It can be served as a dip for veggies or with pita chips. You can also use it as a spread on sandwiches or wraps. Most grocery stores sell it in their deli area by the specialty cheese area.

  • 1 16 oz can of chickpeas or garbanzo Beans
  • 1/4 cup liquid from can of chickpeas
  • 3-5 tablespoons lemon juice (depending on taste)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons tahini
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Preparation:

Drain chickpeas and set aside liquid from can. Combine remaining ingredients in blender or food processor. Add 1/4 cup of liquid from chickpeas. Blend for 3-5 minutes on low until thoroughly mixed and smooth.

Place in serving bowl, and create a shallow well in the center of the hummus.

Add a small amount (1-2 tablespoons) of olive oil in the well. Garnish with parsley (optional).

Serve immediately with fresh, warm or toasted pita bread, or cover and refrigerate.

Variations

For a spicier hummus, add a sliced red chile or a dash of cayenne pepper.

Storing Hummus

Hummus can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and can be kept in the freezer for up to one month. Add a little olive oil if it appears to be too dry.

I had 3 oz chicken

1/2 cup vanilla pudding with banana slices

3 oz chicken

The pudding:

1 pack FF SF vanilla pudding

per package instructions, but, I use "double skim milk" which is powdered milk made with skim milk instead of Water and really given the pudding a better texture with added protien.

Add sliced bananas-yum.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
