Ok, here goes with the results. I used lemon cake mix with sprite. It doesn't rise as much as it would with the eggs and oil. The texture is more dense. It isn't quite brownie texture, but it isn't regular cake texture either. The taste is good. I would say it is sweeter than regular cake mix alone. I don't usually frost my cakes, so that works out. My almost teenage son likes it. My very picky husband likes it too. I would make it again.

Thanks for letting me know. I will have to try it. The Protein muffins I was talking about turned out dense too. It was VERY filling though.

I'm envious...my band cannot tolerate any kind of soft starchy products...i.e. bread, muffins, cake, tortillas, etc. :)

I had a fill a few days ago, so I'm back on soft foods.

B - Fiber One lime yogurt

L - 1/2 cup blended bean Soup

D - 1/2 cup cottage cheese with 1/4 cup applesauce

S - 42 g. Protein shot

Question: you use a box cake mix and diet soda only (and the carob chocolate chips)? No eggs or oil? How much diet soda?

This is all that I used, nothing else that the box asked for and my cakes came out moist, full size and delicious.

I used a full can of soda too. I also heard that you can do this to box brownies too. (haven't tried that one yet)

Georgia girl: I hope you're feeling better.

Slim: I too have been on and off my game. I start out good and then....But it's not that bad and we are way ahead of the game because we know how to get back on track.

Please keep us posted on how your cakes, cupcakes or muffins turn out!

I didn't like how my lemon cake turned out yesterday (although DS and DH ate it up). I decided to try it again. This time I used a devil's food cake mix and diet cola. I didn't use my mixer this time. I hand mixed it with a spatula. It turned out really nice. DS and DH ate it warm with sf whipped topping. Not bad for them to not know that it was at least somewhat healthier for them without all of the eggs and oil. Thanks for posting about your cake and reminding me that I wanted to try that!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
