BigHarleyGuy1, This surgery changed my life for the friken GREAT. No more CPAP, BP meds, dating/sex life so much better. food still tastes great, just less of it. Read the sections "Sex, oh my god sex" and "you know when you lost weight when" and you will get a sense of the hope and change that is possible. Do your own research, but what convinced me to do this was a study that showed the VERY BEST behavior modification programs for weight loss had 8% success rates. Bariatric surgery 80%. I went with the odds, did self pay in Mexico and love the results.

Mike, You have only one body and one life. Both of them are EXCLUSIVELY YOURS.

YOU need to feel good. So only YOU can decide.

I was against having this done for years until i just woke up one day and decided that i was TIRED of losing ground and wasting my life. I'm less than 20 days away and i CANT WAIT!

I know its going to be hard. I know i'm going to have issues. I KNOW i have a long way to go. But I'll get there and the REWARDS will be SWEET!

Congrats on your decision, I highly doubt you will regret it. Once you get used to it, WLS is a pretty easy (and very effective) way to lose weight and keep it off.......in my opinion. I'm only 6 months or so out but it feels longer because so much has changed. Life is infinitely better!

Way to go in decision making, Harley! If the idiot insurance can't see the long term savings, screw 'em and get it done anyway....10 weeks out today, over 60#, off all blood pressure meds, off 90% of my diabetes meds, more flexible, just worked 8 hours in the heat in my garden and orchard yesterday, so much easier than before. It is worth it!!! August will be here soon.

Had the surgery on 8/10/2015 with Dr. Carlos Altamirano in Tijuana.

The surgery, recovery, etc went GREAT.

All is good.

Came home and went right back to work (Real Estate).

I am down 35 lbs including the pre-op.

Feel great. Eating my mushiness and puree.

Thanks.

Harley, this is only about ONE PERSON!

YOU

Look in the mirror and ask that guy.

Are you healthy? Are you Happy???

If your answer is no to either..... Find an answer. It MAY be this surgery, it may be something else.

But life is too short to no get those 2 things RESOLVED!

Good luck!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
