gomezk2 24 Posted May 26, 2015 Im confused in a way. Doctor's orders were to consume 2 oz of clear liquid every 15 mins. But on the paperwork he gave me prior to surgery it says 1 oz every 15 mins. Currently i am on the full liquid diet phase 2. Taking Protein Shakes and Clear Liquids for hydration. Any help would be welcomed. Just wanna know if im doing on by consuming 2 oz or am i overdoing it. I don't have any pain or discomfort when i do the 2 oz.
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted May 26, 2015 I would drink what you can. I didn't measure by ounces/per time interval during my liquid phases, I just sipped all day. I would assume the 1-2 oz every 15 minutes are guidelines to help you stay hydrated and get in your Protein rather than hard limits. But, if you are unsure why not call your NUT or surgeon and ask? judyoz 240 Posted May 26, 2015 I agree, just do what you can. There is not very much difference in the two. But if you sip all day, you sould be alright. Best of luck.
Miss Mac 6,262 Posted May 26, 2015 When I was first post-op, it took me an hour to drink an 8 ounce cup of Water. Now at 16 months out, I can drink a cup of Water in about twenty minutes. It is so much easier to get my fluids in now. I am up to 100 ounces a day.
jane13 2,256 Posted May 26, 2015 not a big difference really and the more you can drink to stay hydrated the better you will feel. I am not as tired (post-op 3wks tomorrow).
liannatx 897 Posted May 27, 2015 I didn't have any problems drinking 2 oz every 15 minutes. Water drains through pretty fast.
