Just sick and discouraged

Recommended Posts

I am 13 days post op. When I came home, I had lost about 15 pounds. I lost nothing during pre-surgery liquid phase. I am now stuck at 13 pounds only. I have been this way the past 5 days. While I am not having to use my insulin now and I am happy about that, I am super disappointed that I am not losing this soon out. My clothes fit the same also. I'm feeling that I may have made a mistake. Any other stories or thoughts like this?

If you get your Water, virtually eliminate unnecessary carbs, eat lean Protein first and then a bit of veges/low sugar fruit, chew like crazy, you will lose. The plateaus are tough to get through, but already I am seeing lots of weight coming off.

13 days post-op! That is too soon to worry. Just stick with the program. Meet the Protein, Fluid and Vitamin requirements and watch the magic happen.

Your body has probably gone into survival mode try increasing calorie intake a bit if possible and try doing some exercise if your ready to do so.

I know how you feel, I'm 16 days and have been having huge buyers remorse I miss food like mad, I'm not losing weight, actually I fluctuate like crazy, and it's doing my head in.

I have been sticking to the required meal plan, I think it may have put me into starvation mode, and on top of that I feel freezing cold all the time, where as before the surgery I always ran hot.

And also my boobs are tender very very tender and have been for the past two weeks.

I hate myself right now.

I freeze a lot too. For the first time tonight I got sick. Every time I eat I feel yuck. I can't determine if I am eating too much, eating too big of a bite, or eating something my body can't handle. Either way I am finding I don't like the way I feel. I can't fix what I am doing if I don't know what's wrong.

All I can say is that it gets better. I had revision surgery from lap-band to RNY on April 29th. First 3-4 weeks was not great at all. Everything I ate made me feel sick. But you can get thru it. I decided pre-surgery that I wouldn't weigh myself more than once a week. And I've pretty much stuck to that and it really helps because you are better able to see the results.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
