LisaPunkinHead 187 Posted May 25, 2015 So excited -- I can't remember how long it's been since I got on the scale and the first number was a 1. Except that one time 5 years ago when it was off balance, but I knew it was a mistake. And today I did a 30 minute run! First one since I blew my knee out a year ago (on a run...)! I will be ready for that 10-K in 3 months!!!

Bndtoslv 292 Posted May 26, 2015 Congratulations! You have exactly the same stats as me except I am not sure of your age! When did you have surgery. I am particularly excited to start running again. What was your BMI when you started running after surgery? I feel like I should get down to 210 or so or I might hurt myself.

I started running in January 2011 at 230 lbs (BMI about 36 I guess). Got down to 211 after training for and running a half marathon, but couldn't maintain that weight. Kept running just because I enjoy it. Last year tore my medial meniscus and had to wait 4 months before they would do surgery. I was just about the same BMI (236) postop when I started training again, but started walking first, then did couch to 5K. I am now working with a trainer who knows how much I enjoy running, so he has some major leg strengthening in the program and then he has me do some speed work on the treadmill in between exercises.
