nikkitajo 0 Posted May 24, 2015 Hi everyone, my name is Nicole. I got my gastric sleeve done on April 23, 2015 in Red Deer Alberta, Canada. I live in Calgary Alberta. Thank God, my recovery was very smooth. After 4 weeks in liquids, I can finally eat solids but it's not that easy. I'm struggling with this transition. I'm diappointed that I have only lost 16 pounds. Anyway gotta hang in there
kempermorris 144 Posted May 24, 2015 Probably ought to be on soft foods instead of solids. Time to start exercising. The weight will start coming off.
nikkitajo 0 Posted May 24, 2015 I know, was very confused but dietician says solid foods.
ShrinkingPeach 1,291 Posted May 24, 2015 If you are struggling, maybe try soft foods instead before "solids". They are much easier on your sleeve and can pave the way for a smoother transition. It can't hurt. If something is too hard, take a step back and try again.
kempermorris 144 Posted May 24, 2015 My nutritionist said solids too. But my doctor said No. I was on soft foods for a month. Check with your doctor & see if he agrees with your nutritionist. I'm 5 months post op & have lost 102lbs. I have another 100 to go. Hang in there. It will get better. Do everything the Doctor tells you to do & don't cheat & get moving. EXERCISE does wonders
kempermorris 144 Posted May 24, 2015 I also had bypass & maybe diet restrictions are different with the sleeve
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted May 24, 2015 After full liquids I started soft foods and have three weeks of adding mechanical foods to the soft foods gradually. Try starting with adding one food a day beginning with softs and take your time.
nikkitajo 0 Posted May 24, 2015 Thanks everyone, I think I'm going to do the soft food phase. I'm gonna start exercising but yesterday I had to sleep all day. I was exhausted and dizzy.
kempermorris 144 Posted May 24, 2015 Start slow. I could only walk 1/2 mile when I started. You will get stronger everyday. Make sure you get all the Protein your suppose to have. You may have to still drink a shake a day to get there. Protein helps you heal. Drink lots of Water
