Dr. Kim in Frisco or Bailey Bariatrics or Mexico

Recommended Posts

I have a consult with Dr. Kim on Wednesday and there is also an info meeting that night for Bailey Bariatrics in Muskogee. I am thinking about going to both. I want to choose the right Dr but there are so many options out there. My insurance covers bariatric surgery but my BMI is only 36 so there is a possibility that I will be self pay. This is what makes me also consider Mexico. I guess what I am looking for is for experiences with these two places. Anything negative? How long from first appointment until surgery?

Thanks

Mexico was awesome. I used Dr. Ellis Ortiz in Tijuana last September, it was easy.

Dr Kim did my inverted sleeve 3 years ago. He is an excellent doctor and his staff is amazing! I highly recommend him. How did you feel about your visit with him?

Dr David Kim did my WLS and he actually saved my life. I lost 100 lbs and am off all medicines, I am healthy. I can walk and do Zumba which I could not do before. Dr Kim is a good Dr, I totally trust him.

I do know he has specials for self pay, check it out, i dont think you will regret it. He also has many opportunities for support groups as support afterwards is very important in keeping the weight off, best of luck to you!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
